Job Role: Technical Director

Favourite Game/s: The Secret of Monkey Island

What’s your role in the development of Rite of Life?

As the Technical Director at Rebourne Studios I work closely with the design team to implement and alter the core gameplay mechanics found in Rite of Life whilst offering my own ideas on how certain mechanics could be taken forward. I'm also responsible for ensuring that the different variables in the game are easily changeable for the designers and testers so that various scenarios can be recorded and explored. Among these things, I also perform frequent bug testing and fixing using the findings acquired from the designers and testers.

What is the best thing about working at Rebourne Studios?

I find the freedom to be creative is the most refreshing part about working at Rebourne Studios. Everyone has a voice that can be heard and, as such, if you have a great idea, people will listen to it and help you act on it.

What inspired you to want to develop video games?

I've been playing video games since I was a little man child but had never considered that video games could be a part of my future career. My inspiration and desire to develop video games came about when I first began teaching myself how to program. This new found ability to manipulate all manner of objects and variables gave me the urge to create innovative or interesting game play for others to experience.

Your favourite game is "undefined. ERROR 404. Not found.". Why is this?

I don't think I'm quite capable of answering this question. As a little man child I was introduced to a variation of games, for the PC, that generated various interests in me for many different video game genres. The Secret of Monkey Island was, and still is, one of my favourite games as it doesn't challenge your ability to play the game, it challenges your ability to think logically. Well, I guess illogically would be more appropriate. This introduction into Point and Click adventures from a young age has made me grow up to love a genre that many people these days have never bothered experiencing.

Outside of video games, what are your hobbies?

There is life outside of video games? Umm.
